IN Brief: Thappline lease deal
PETROLEUM: Thai Petroleum Pipeline (Thappline) has agreed to lease infrastructure and supporting facilities from Bangkok Aviation Fuel Services (BAFS) in a bid to operate jet-fuel logistics service at Suvarnabhumi Airport.
Thappline managing director Jakchai Barlee said the contract with BAFS would allow the company to use 2,000 square metres of space at the airport for the logistics system and equipment service.
Jet fuel will be delivered through Thappline pipelines from oil refineries in Si Racha and Map Tha Phut to oil depots at the airport.
Mr Jakchai said that Thapline transported 70-80% of all jet fuel used in Thailand. In 2004, the company invested 1.3 billion baht to build a 38-kilometre pipeline from oil depots in Pathum Thani to Suvarnabhumi Airport.
Of the total investment, 200 million baht was used to pay for infrastructure and facilities leasing fees for BAFS.
